Preschool / Under the Sea
Our preschool group is located in the main nursery building and is for children aged 3-5 years. We are open 8-6 on weekdays for about 49 weeks a year.
Our nursery routine starts with a 'Wake up, Shake up' after breakfast, followed by 'Island Time' (smaller groups led by the children's key person) to welcome everyone in. During the day we have child-initiated play, adult-led activities, story and song times as well as meal times. Our meals are prepared on the premises, sometimes with help from the preschool children.
We plan our activities around themes throughout the year, often based on children's interests and experiences, with a 'Book of the Month' and relevant songs to enhance our learning.
(Please note, there is also a term-time-only room, which is open 9-3 each weekday for 38 weeks a year for children aged 2-5 years.)

Our toddlers area is for children aged 24 - 42 months, and is situated in the main nursery building.
It is open 8-6 for about 49 weeks a year. Our toddlers follow a simple routine, which includes child-initiated play and adult led activities, (including small group times, whole class group times and 1:1 adult let activities).
Outdoors
We encourage free-flow play, giving children opportunities to learn, develop and have fun outdoors in all weathers.
Our children have access to an excellent outdoor area sectioned into a variety of sections. The babies have direct access to a soft floor and grass area. Toddlers and Preschoolers each have access to their own outdoors spaces. These spaces also lead to a larger outdoors space which incorporates a grass area with a hut and sensory items, a bicycle road which goes around an artificial grass hill, a bark area with a mud kitchen, bug hotel, tree, pirate ship and digging area, a sit-in sand-pit, a mark-making area, a climbing frame on soft flooring, and a school playground area with a shed full of resources.
